In October 2024, WaitWhat hosted the second Masters of Scale Summit at the Presidio in San Francisco. This premier live event evolved out of the award-winning podcast Masters of Scale and is billed as a transformative collaborative experience for entrepreneurs, founders, and CEOs. Speakers include iconic Silicon Valley figures, billionaire VCs, and even former Presidents. If you’re a business person (or biz-head as they are often known) you may have heard of it!

As Senior Writer at WaitWhat, I was heavily involved with the production of the event. In the months leading up to Summit, I assisted in developing the stage programming — writing questions and interview outlines for specific speakers, establishing session titles and themes, and ensuring the content aligned with the overall goals laid out be the company’s leadership. I was also responsible for writing, editing, or approving all written content associated with the event, including signage, web/app copy, and internal style guides, some of which you’ll see below. Finally, I wrote the entirety of the stage script for our hosts and worked backstage during the event to produce on-the-fly rewrites and put out non-literal fires. It was a lot, but was also very creatively fulfilling and made for some great stories.

Speakers include:
Bill Clinton
Tracee Ellis Ross
Mellody Hobson
Steve Huffman
Governor Wes Moore
Mustafa Suleyman
Astro Teller
Meredith Whittaker
and more.
